Iron Mountain established the Law Firm Information Governance Symposium (LFIGS) in 2012 as a platform for the legal industry to create an Information Governance (IG) roadmap unique to law firms. A steering committee of five law firms guides the mission, direction, and deliverables of the symposium. The symposium offers definitions, processes, and best practices for building law firm IG. We publish multiple IG thought-leadership reports annually, each one authored by law firm leaders and subject matter experts from the service provider community.

In 2022 and early 2023, members authored four new reports focusing their attention on putting IG policies into action, taking a fresh look at matter mobility, tackling data governance, and exploring AI’s impact on IG—and particularly generative AI—in law firms.
