Chances are, you’ve seen Iron Mountain’s trucks and vans on the road. Vehicles are vital to our operations, and vehicle emissions represent approximately 46% of our Scope 1 greenhouse gas emissions.
We’ve built a dedicated, cross-functional team of subject matter experts to support our goal of global fleet electrification, completing the necessary viability assessments and understanding the local landscape. The team analyzes factors such as route length, vehicle renewal schedule, cost, grants and incentives available, and government regulations in each location where we are adding EVs. This analysis guides which internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles in our fleet we can transition to electric vehicles.
Most recently, we launched the program in Singapore. We brought in 13 branded vans across Singapore and set up a new charging station, and celebrated this milestone with Mountaineers and customers on August 3. In the US, we’ll see six vans on the road in LA, Houston and Philadelphia in the coming months. This is all part of our participation in The Climate Group’s EV100: a global initiative for companies working to transition their fleet to electric vehicles.
With the addition of Singapore, our fleet electrification program is now active in 18 countries. We’ve committed that 10% of our fleet will be electric by 2025 - that’s more than 450 vehicles. You can find more information about our fleet electrification efforts in our 2022 Sustainability Report.
